Lars Svendsen on Rhythm&Book
Last night, there was standing room only at Crni mačak! As part of the Rhythm&Book programme, we hosted another engaging and well-attended event titled “On Stupidity, Idiocy, and Stupid Idiots” with Lars Svendsen.
Our guest of the evening, Norwegian philosopher Lars Fr. H. Svendsen, was joined in conversation by Vlatka Kolarović. They discussed his book On Stupidity, Idiocy and Stupid Idiots, as well as themes of loneliness and lies explored in A Philosophy of Loneliness and A Philosophy of Lying. The discussion offered many thought-provoking insights and opened up space for reflection on contemporary social phenomena, while an engaged audience contributed with their own questions, further enriching the evening. Svendsen also announced several new projects we are already looking forward to.
The musical atmosphere was set by DJ Marko Mihalinec Plazmatick, whose selection of light electronic music perfectly complemented the evening. The event gathered around fifty visitors, and the atmosphere was excellent, confirming strong interest in such programmes. We were especially pleased to welcome the Norwegian Ambassador to Croatia, His Excellency Arne Sannes Bjørnstad, who attended with his spouse.
Thank you to everyone who was part of this wonderful evening! Our next event is scheduled for early June—stay tuned via our website and social media for more information.
This programme is supported by the City Office for Culture and Civil Society, while Lars Svendsen’s visit to Zagreb was co-financed by NORLA and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Croatia.
