Andreas Reckwitz

Andreas Reckwitz (1970), is a German sociologist and cultural theorist and professor of Social Theory and Cultural Sociology at the Humboldt University of Berlin. Reckwitz is a prominent proponent of the theory of social practice and has contributed to its development as a comprehensive social and cultural theory, which serves as a starting point for his works on the subjectivization, creativity, and singularization of social life. In 2017 for his notable study Die Gesellschaft der Singularitäten. Zum Strukturwandel der Moderne (The Society of Singularities. On the Changing Structure of Modernism) received the Bavarian Book Award, and in 2019 the „Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz“ Award of the German Research Association.
